Enhanced DC-Link Voltage Utilization for Sliding-Mode-Controlled PMSM Drives

Sliding mode control (SMC) can be considered for torque regulation of permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) when fast transient response and/or robustness under parameter uncertainties are required. In some particular applications, a voltage harmonic injection technique that enhances the dc-link utilization should incorporated into controller to operate at high speeds. Although this is straightforward pulsewidth modulated (PWM) drives, convenient definition sliding surfaces and an appropriate procedure must implemented using SMC. work, novel approach generate zero-sequence in surface-mounted (SM) PMSM drives controlled by fixed switching frequency first-order SMC proposed. A theoretical analysis provided verifying existence demonstrating system stability reached. Finally, experimentation carried out off-the-shelf drive, where two patterns tested. both cases, extended 15%, confirming validity proposal.
